Clean all surfaces to remove grease or loose debris. If the surface is porous or has a rough or uneven profile, apply PRIMER before fixing the flashing strip. Flashband is easily applied using hand pressure only, but sometimes a small roller can help to give a more even finish, and "roll out" air pockets.
